This was the color combo my dad’s ‘61 had.

Also, TIL my dad’s Corvette was a ‘61 instead of a ‘62, as jewel blue wasn’t a color option in ‘62.

It is. And I think that Rusty’s rally wheels need to be medium blue. They’re Monte Carlo rims, so the caps have to be car caps. I was thinking today that I might scare up a set and sand blast them and paint them white like the caps on that Vette.

Or ever even saw one? I bought a T5 for it, but I might scare up a Borg Warner overdrive three-speed for it instead and keep the column shift.

The only vehicles I’ve seen with a three on the tree were mid 70's Chevy 1/2 ton pickups, one was a used state highway truck. The other was a hand-me-down from a parent to a kid. Pretty easy to drive and nice to keep the stick off the floor.

My only complaint is that the gear ratios tend to be spread out and the shift takes relatively long. But it’s novel and I may just keep it in place. And that’s how the van was special ordered for the ‘71 model year by the original owner and I’m the second owner.

Paint them either white or silver, just not run ‘em chrome, since the paint on the van is already so tired. Perhaps I’ve shared this with you previously, but I’ve thought of painting the van Corsair blue, a la Marine aviation in the Pacific in WWII, thusly:

I like the low sheen, but I’m told it’s hard to paint with lower sheens. Anyhow, it doesn’t matter because it’ll most likely never happen. But the wheels, that’s another matter...
